This test provides an accurate assessment of the rate of bone turnover in an individual. This allows your doctor to identify those more likely to develop osteoporosis, to intervene before the significant loss has occurred. The test also determines the effectiveness of treatment based on post-treatment changes in biochemical markers as opposed to bone scans which only indicate the amount of bone that has been lost.
